Sophie Chen

Hi everyone! My name is Sophie Chen, and I'm a senior student attending Hangzhou International School, China. I was born in New Zealand, and spent most of my life growing up in China.

I joined Model UN in Grade 6, after being introduced to it by my friends and family. Since then, I have been an active participant, and took on a multitude of leadership roles. In the past 7 years, I had the opportunity to attend numerous conferences around China, such as CISSMUN, BEIMUN, NISMUN, and SUZMUN.

In these conferences, I had the chance to experience different committees and different roles (both as delegate and student officer). In 2018, I had the great privilege of being a part of the OMUN Travel Team to THIMUN Qatar, serving as the President of the First General Assembly.

As the Secretary General, I have also dedicated a large amount of my time in school to organizing our annual Model UN Conference - West Lake MUN. The conference hosts 10+ schools and 200+ delegates every year.

I hope that my experience in being a part of the ELT for OMUN IAD will introduce me to many other likeminded individuals and provide me with new perspectives on global affairs!
