Sophie Lafayette
Communications, Project Manager, and Editor in New Orleans, Louisiana
I like to work where creativity and technology meet, especially when relevant and fresh ideas are put into action. As with my academic background, my work life has been, and continues to be, cross-sector & multidisciplinary.
After being in the publishing industry for some time, I worked with several tech start-ups, including Funzi and Principle Systems. I lived in Tanzania for over four years where I supported the Ramani Huria project, community mapping for flood resilience, and as a consultant with the World Bank/GFDRR on the Southwest Indian Ocean Island States Risk Assessment and Financing Initiative. I was also the lead organiser for TEDxIlala 2015 and run a writers' group in Dar es Salaam called Moto. Most recently I worked as the Communications Manager for the international Open Data Charter.
I enjoy working with passionate groups of people, and I’m darn good at organising & getting things done.
