Sophie Elliott

b. 1989 in Cardiff, Wales.

Overview:

I am a landscape inspired artist working in a variety of different mediums, but painting is at the core. Through my practice I am attempting to understand the geological aspects of the landscape and how nature sculpts it. Although being an artist is integral to my personality, I am also an avid educator. I have been involved in education since 2004.

I had the pleasure of being an Artist in Residence for two years at Ackworth School, Yorkshire. Whilst there I developed my body of work enormously and secured the Joan Day Painting Bursary to have my first funded solo show at Southsquare Center, Thornton. I have consistently shown my work in the UK and have had experience curating a number of exhibitions. Whilst doing this I have extended my fascination in the world of education and am embarking on a PGCE, where I hope to delve in to the world of gallery education.
