Sophie Wenzlau

I am a senior at Western Washington University, expecting to graduate Summer 2012, pursuing a major in Politics, Philosophy and Economics as well as minors in French and International Studies. I am drawn to issues of international development, water scarcity and food security, with an eye to sustainability. A well-versed traveler, I have lived, studied and interned in Madagascar, Switzerland and India—experiences which taught me the value of self-directed development. I intend to focus post-graduation research on “the iron triangle”—the imminent problem of a global surge in demand for food, water and energy—with the objective of promoting equity and sustainable development at the international level. Dreams include a PhD in Sustainable Development.
