Yuhong Liu (Monica)

Shanghai, Shanghai Shi, China

My name is Monica. I am a credit risk analyst, business owner, responsible citizen, hiking enthusiast, and animal lover :)

Since graduating from Shanghai Jiaotong University six years ago, I have gained extensive knowledge of finance and accounting through three years of auditing experience at Deloitte, and also learned the practical operational politics of a multinational in three years as a credit risk manager at Siemens. I also started a company with my husband, and we have been fortunate to grow it into quite a profitable business with stable cash flows and multiple employees.

But there is always a voice from the depth of my heart that I should do my best to help more people and contribute to society where I can. Einstein once said that “the world is destroyed not by those who do evil, but by those who stand by and do nothing.” Many say that they will give back to society after they have achieved financial freedom, but my thinking is, “Why not start now?”

I have a few causes that I care about deeply and actively participate in. One is the welfare of animals. Another is supporting patients with leukemia and finding an eventual cure. I also believe in being a responsible citizen, and being an active contributor to one’s local community.

I think I will have lived a successful life if, after I am gone, people would remember me as someone who helped to make the world a better place.
