Megan Saunders
Soprano, Megan Saunders, originally of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, is a graduate of Acadia University where she studied Music Therapy and Vocal Performance with mezzo soprano, Paula Rockwell. While at Acadia, Megan was able to take part in masterclasses with Juno award winning soprano, Measha Brueggergosman. She has also taken part in masterclasses with Dr. Caroline Schiller and Dr. Jane Leibel.
In 2008 and 2009 she went on to complete her 1000-hour internship for the Canadian Association for Music Therapy through Eastern Health at St. Pat's Mercy Home in St. John's, NL.
In October 2011, Megan graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Music Education. Megan studied voice with mezzo soprano Maya Mohan from January 2010 to July 2012 and will begin studying with Megan Wittig under the guidance of Jane Leibel in September 2012.
She has performed in numerous music festivals, concerts, recitals and masterclasses. Megan is also the founder, organizer and performer of an annual concert in her hometown, "A Night For Them", which is a benefit concert in aid of the MS Society of Canada - a dear cause close to her heart.
Megan is also highly skilled in piano, having played since the age of 7, and has worked her way up through the Royal Conservatory of Music in Piano. She is currently working on finishing the RCM exams and obtaining a ARCT Teaching Certificate in Piano. Piano was also a secondary requirement in her music therapy degree from Acadia University.
Megan will also begin work as a substitute music teacher with the Eastern School District in St. John's, NL,September 2012. She hopes one day to continue her voice studies at a graduate level and would love, some day, to adjudicate at music festivals and events.
