Sorboni Banerjee

Sorboni Banerjee starts her day bright and early with the team of FOX 25 Morning News anchors weekdays from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Sorboni joined FOX 25 as an anchor/reporter in June 2012. She has reported and anchored in the area for close to a decade and is so happy to continue to serve the community she knows and loves. Born and raised in Rhode Island, she was a morning anchor in Providence at ABC 6 before coming to Boston as a lead reporter.

Sorboni's been in the field for the big stories that shook the community -- from floods to blizzards to the deadly tornadoes that devastated western Massachusetts, securing high profile interviews regarding the capture of notorious mobster Whitey Bulger, and uncovering exclusive details about the Craigslist Killer's suicide. She was embedded on the campaign trails for the presidential primaries of 2012 and 2008 in New Hampshire, and has traveled to NYC with the Red Sox and Bruins on their world championship victory tours.

Sorboni got her start as a reporter, anchor and political correspondent at NBC 25 in Hagerstown, Md. She also reported from the nation's capital while still in college, for various local news outlets covering September 11th, the American Airlines crash over Rockaway, N.Y., and the anthrax attacks. She graduated summa cum laude from Boston University where she studied broadcast journalism and international relations and was honored to be the student commencement speaker.

Sorboni works to fundraise for her local animal shelter, works to fight hunger among children in India with the Akshaya Patra organization, supports the American Indian Foundation, and helps her husband with Raincatcher, a charity that harvests safe drinking water for communities in Africa, India and Haiti.

Sorboni is honored to have been recognized by Governor Deval Patrick on behalf of the Indian America Forum for Political Education for contributions to the community, by Get Konnected!, which is Boston's Premier Urban Networking Event with their "Women Who Rock" award, and by Boston.com's A-List "Best News Anchor" award in 2011, and by India New England with theIR 2012 "Woman of the Year" nomination.
