Wayward experimentalist. genomics of ageing researcher, bike racer, computer animator, doom-metal band and futurist.

My interest is in the biomedical manipulation of aging and my work uses systems biology to understand the systems failure at the molecular level which slowly break our bodies down through the years.

I work with MAGLAB, the lab of Dr Joao Pedro de Magalhaes, in the UK where I am pursuing several connected projects.
My projects enclude engineering cryopreservation tolerances in human cell lines and tissues for long-term biobanking of vital stem cell lines, tissues and lab-grown equivalents, in silico simulations for drugs discovery and a laterly a large scale genomic/metabolic integrative research pipeline that will allow millions of people to track and monitor their health in the greatest possible detail as they age (and allow the development of therapies to reset the biological clock).

I would like to see extended life-times and extended health spans, which would allow human lives to experience much more of this universe.

Words to live by - (of course anything from Deadwood is good in most situations) - failing that there is the timeless Buckminster Fuller truism- "To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

Not enough time - too much space!
