Hire me

Hello, I’m Soren. I’m a User Experience Designer and Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility SME living in the suburbs of Rockland county, just outside of NYC.

Important to me: Changing the world through diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in design. Design has the ability to affect systematic change, and technology can change lives.

I strive for that at work, but also through + academic study
+ verbal contextualization of data visualization research
+ creating a free resource on inclusive design
+ making these projects open source and free for anyone to benefit from
+ studying bias and how we can be aware of it via emotional intelligence and diversity in product teams

Everyone benefits from inclusion. When we bring our whole self to work, we bring our best self.

My life experience with being a cultural minority through disability, gender, sexuality, and religion has shaped a passion for human connection and empathy, as well as usability and accessibility. I've also been able to work on some amazing teams, from DoD contractors to Fortune 25 financial firms. I value team culture, emotional intelligence, and an emphasis in transparency and growth - personal, professional, and corporate.

I like digging into the how and the why of user needs to make things that are solving needs. At my heart, I know the difference that a good product can make and being a full stack designer, I am lucky enough to see my work from start to finish.

I'm studying AI, alternative data communications, bias exclusion, the links between neuro diversity and gender diversity, diversity/inclusion/accessibility, and data bias/diversity.

The future of tech belongs to the curious and the quick, so I'm constantly moving and I want to hear what you're excited about lately. I want to make a better world through better teams and projects. Let's talk on Twitter if you'd like to hear about what I'm reading or learning lately! @sorenfox

When I'm not trying to pump empathy into the corporate machine, I participate in social change initiatives. I'm hanging out at poetry events, playing tabletop games, or enjoying planning low brow art-kid theme parties like cardboard box fort and glow art collaborative installation. I also throw LGBTQ family dinners and take lots of photos for a gourmet mushroom instagram with my partner. I also love collecting space themed things: I have knick-knacks, enamel pins, tattoos, and one rescue cat named after Yuri Gagarin.
