What is Social Proof?

As the shortest description, it is tendency to confirm any behavior just because others do it but this description is not enough. The socialproof principal tells what people believe in or how they behave to decide in a situation. Besides, it tells what the other people think. This feature of social proof is both the strongest and the weakest point of that. It tells us the short way about how we behave such as other effect tools but it makes those who use this short way vulnerable to people who want to make a profit from it.

We have tendency to confirm any behavior just because others do it and this tendency is abused for many times. For example, by leaving a few dollars into the tip box, barmen generally show that former customers have left a tip and leaving tip is a good behavior.

Advertisers love to tell us that their products are the fastest growing or most selling product because they do not have to convince us directly that product is high quality, it is just satisfactory evidence to say that the others think so.

Socialuse proofprinciple says that the more the number of people who accept the idea is high, the more a person believes the truth of this idea. Convince and get convinced!
