In gioventù ha vissuto a Londra dove ha fatto il portiere di notte in un albergo gestito da greci e pilotato i traghetti in servizio sul Thames. Trasferitosi a Manchester, ha fatto parte del servizio d'ordine al concerto dei New Order all'Hacienda nel giugno del 1982, la più grande soddisfazione della sua vita. Rientrato in Italia per il servizio militare, dopo il congedo viene reclutato come agente infiltrato. Esperto di arti marziali, ama salire sul ring contro avversari che hanno la metà dei suoi anni.
