A sound effects (or audio effects) are sound that has been artificially created or enhanced, or a sound process that has been used to emphasize artistic or other content in films, television shows, live performances, animation, video games, music, or other media. They were traditionally created with foley in the twentieth century. A sound effect is a recorded and presented sound in film and television production that is used to make a specific storytelling or creative point without the use of dialogue or music. The term is frequently used to refer to a process applied to a recording, rather than the recording itself.
