It all begins in the streets of Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape a calling nurtured by the motherland andnow taking over the City of Gold with exclusive beats original concepts, mixing and mastering which is oflocal and international class, Soundngoma “the sound doctor” also known as Dj Sound.Soundngoma is our very own traditional sound doctor coming from humble begins when his brothergave him his first mic, from there on he was fast becoming that brother who recorded people for thefirst time when they heard themselves on the mic in his neighborhood. Music is a calling for ‘Sandi’ hisXhosa name which translated into English means ‘Sound’ thus it became evident at an early age that thecreation and the reinforcement of good sound would become his destiny.In grade five he joined the school choir and at the age of Twelve him and some of his childhood friendsformed a Kwaito Group called Amagenge recording demos on a Phillips hi-fi system while playing thebeat on a Boom-Box, not a lot of people stay with the vision that inspired them as children because theydon’t realize that success is progressive realization of a wealthy idea, like Soundngoma says “inkoloyakho iqhalo lakho”.“Anything built of pure matter will never spoil”, his work is proof and testament that whatever the mindcan conceive and believe the mind can achieve. In ‘97 his mother bought him his first pair of keys aBontempi Electric Organ which helped him find his way around the keys, toured the Eastern Cape withDr. Mandla Makubalo, and appeared on the Gospel Gold show. After working with Legends likeSiyabonga Hlekani, it was an eye opener for Soundngoma it inspired and fascinated him to focus moreon production it didn’t take long for him to apply the knowledge he acquired in studio toward his ownvision. “to the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world”, Soundngomapulled off from singing, investing on production, he studied sound at City Varsity in Cape Town where hemet the likes of Simon Ratcliffe who put him under his wing at Sound and Motion studio.Soundngoma has seen it all from production, recording and mixing freelancing for companies like theSABC, Octagon the list is endless.
