Sports have always been a huge part of my life. Going back as far as I can remember, my free time was always spent playing or watching some kind of sport.
I originally fell in love with soccer. I started out when I was either 5 or 6 playing at the local YMCA with my brother and cousin. As I got older, I started to play competitively for a few club teams up until the end of middle school.
I'm from North Carolina, and I grew up a huge Hurricanes fan. When I was 10, I decided that I wanted to give hockey a try because it looked cool on tv. I eventually ended up playing competitively, all the way through high school.
Football was another sport I loved to watch growing up, but I never really got into playing. My freshman year of high school, I decided that I was going to try out for the football team. I ended up playing football all four years of high school, and it ended up being my favorite sport that I had played.
I love sports because I have found that they have a way of uniting people, and teaching us real life lessons that extend beyond the playing field. Growing up playing sports, I learned countless life lessons that I use with me in the real world, even if I'm not playing sports.
