Stephen Quinn runs MOJO Media Insights, a digital media consulting company. Dr Quinn has taught journalists how to make broadcast-quality videos using only an iOS device in 19 countries since 2010. He was the digital development editor at the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong from 2011-2013. From 1996 to 2011 Dr Quinn taught multi-media journalism at universities in Australia, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and China.

Between 1975 and 1995 he worked at regional newspapers in Australia; the Bangkok Post in Thailand; the Press Association, BBC-TV, Independent Television News and The Guardian in London; the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Sydney; and Television New Zealand.

Dr Quinn has written 26 print books and four digital books. A book of poetry entitled If you can be anything, be kind appeared in mid 2018. MOJO: The Mobile Journalism Handbook (Focal: Boston), co-written with mojo master Dr Ivo Burum, appeared in September 2015. Other recent books include the third volume of Asia's Media Innovators in 2013 (volume 1 appeared in 2008 and volume 2 in 2010), the third edition of MOJO: Mobile Journalism in the Asian Region (2012), and Funding Journalism in the Digital Age (co-written with Jeff Kaye) in 2010. His iBooks all include video shot with an iPhone. His YouTube site contains a range of videos made with only an iOS device.
