Volunteering with various non-profit organizations and student groups, Sruthi Devarinti will earn a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013 from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While maintaining educational commitments, Devarinti also worked as an instructor for classes of 12 in verbal reasoning, biology, and organic chemistry as an MCAT Prep Instructor at Examkrackers, Inc. In addition, Sruthi Devarinti served customers as Pharmacist Assistant at Carnegie Pharmacy in New York.
Since beginning medical school in 2009, Sruthi Devarinti has garnered skills in a number of specialty areas. Throughout her program at Nova Southeastern, she continues to engage in various clinical trainings, including one-month sleep medicine and geriatric medicine rotations; two-month surgery and pediatrics rotations; two-month neurology and a three-month internal medicine rotation. Applying her medical knowledge in real-world settings, she has completed school physicals and aided triage patients at Light of the World Clinic, and she has taught first-year students in the anatomy lab as a part of the Christian Medical and Dental Association. She has also assisted in soup kitchens and has recently completed both the 10K AIDS Walk NY and the Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Sruthi Devarinti served in numerous capacities while doing an undergraduate degree program, majoring in Biology, with a minor in History at the State University of New York at Stony Brook from 2005 to 2008. As an E-Board Representative for the Residence Hall Association, Devarinti arranged multicultural programs and food drives. Additionally, she joined the South Asian Student Association and founded the Organ Donation Awareness Club.
Graduating from Irvington High School in Irvington, New York, with high honors in 2005, Devarinti earned selection as an AP Scholar with 11 Advanced Placement courses. She has also participated in the Mock Trial Club and World Culture Club of the school. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys cultural dance, poetry, and reading.
