Raised in Guilford, CT, Sal has been a native of Connecticut his whole life. He attended Guilford High School, where he ran varsity cross country - where he was a captain in both his 2012 and 2013 seasons, and was also a member of CT's all-state team.
After graduating in June of 2014, Sal began his college education at Quinnipiac University - where he was recruited to run D1 on the Bobcats' Men's cross country team. He is currently majoring in print journalism, and has been a staff writer for the QU Chronicle Newspaper since September - earning an award for Most Dedicated Staff Writer at the conclusion of his first semester.
In December of the same year, Sal started a blog with his roommate Conor Dunleavy. Originally titled "Sal and Conor's Blog", the site (salandconorsblog.wordpress.com) seeks to share "news, art, and opinion pieces from the college perspective".
