Gresham, Oregon, United States
Photographer, music junkie, and a travel-addict, with a passion and desire to see and explore all things new.
That is basically me in a nutshell. My name’s Stacey Porter, I’m 28 years old and a born-and-raised Oregonian. I have five furry, four-legged “kids,” and aside from my love of the above listed music and traveling, I also enjoy reading, cooking/baking, and being outdoors as much as I can. For the past eight years I have been working full-time as a Pet Stylist, though my career passion truly lies within the arts - specifically, photography. In June 2015 I will be graduating from Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) after completing their Integrated Media program, where I studied photography for two years. My interest in and love of photography really started to take root in 2009 after attending and taking pictures at a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. I loved the ‘rush’ that came with trying to capture the best photo possible at just the right moment during the performance, and thought to myself: “Oh, I would so do this for a living if I could!” At the time never really thinking that it was possible. Fast-forward to June 2013, after numerous switching of majors at MHCC and feeling completely confused as to what I wanted to do with my life career-wise, that little nagging voice in my head saying ‘Photography - just go for it, you know you want to…!’’ finally got through to me, and off to school that September I went.
As I’m coming to the end of my time at MHCC (how times flies!), my goal is to find work as a concert photographer. It was that which ultimately led me to going back to school, and is my dream job that I hope to attain.
