I was born on November 14, 1970, the eldest of 4 children. I grew up in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, a town of 1200 people in east central Saskatchewan. I moved to Saskatoon, SK in 1988 to attend the University of Saskatchewan and obtained my Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1993 graduating in the top quarter of my class. It was during my first year of university that I met my husband Glen, and we were married on July 30, 1994.
My first job out of university was at Crescent IDA Drugs in Lac La Biche, AB where I worked at for 15 years. During that 15 years I met awesome friends in Lac La Biche and Glen and I had 2 great children; Darian, now 12 and Kennedy, now 8. However, in 2008 we felt it was time for a change, so we relocated to the BC Interior to the city of Merritt, BC.
I am currently working as a staff pharmacist at Pharmasave #154 in Merritt, BC and find my job both interesting and challenging.
In 2010 I was embarking on my 40th birthday. I was approached by a friend of mine to run the Vancouver Sun Run 10K, of which I initially thought she was crazy! But, I thought about it and figured it was a great way to challenge myself and usher in my 40th year. I completed the run and later completed another 10K, a sprint distance triathlon, and 2 half marathons.
In March 2012 I discovered ViSalus and the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge. The platform this company offers fit in perfectly with my idea to continually set goals and challenge myself.
Along with running and other fitness endeavors I also enjoy a bit of reading, travelling (I've been to Australia, Italy, the Caribbean, NYC, LA, and Seattle, which is my favorite US city!), and scrapbooking. I am the choir director at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Merritt, BC and I find singing to be a relaxing and rewarding outlet.
At this time in my life, I find myself 42 years old and beginning a training program for a full marathon which I will be running on October 13, 2013 in Kelowna, BC.
It all comes down to this: "If it doesn't CHALLENGE you, it doesn't CHANGE you."
