Dr. Stacy Brecht, DBA, is the chair of the Department of Digital and Strategic Marketing and an assistant professor of the marketing and entrepreneurship majors at Azusa Pacific University in the Los Angeles area. She has taught several graduate and undergraduate courses in marketing, entrepreneurship, communication, and business management.
Brecht relaunched and helps direct the campus-wide Zuventurez entrepreneurial pitch competition, serving as the faculty advisor for the Sigma Nu Tau entrepreneurial honor society on campus.
Her research on entrepreneurship has been published in high-impact academic journals, including the Journal of Business Research, as well as in academic textbooks. She has also presented her entrepreneurship research at several international academic conferences in France, South Africa, Mexico, the United States, and Ireland.
Brecht is also a researcher for the Women and Economic Renewal Research Chair at the triple-accredited business school, Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) Alpine Business School in Grenoble, France. GEM focuses on supporting women entrepreneurs worldwide.
Brecht co-wrote and co-edited the book, Phenomenology of Women Entrepreneurship Across International Contexts: A Post-Structural Feminist Perspective, which explores how women entrepreneurs overcome barriers, persevere, and contribute significantly to economies all over the world.
Additionally, Brecht has owned and operated Carder Brecht Communications, a Los Angeles-based public relations firm, for over 13 years, and she has more than 18 years of experience providing public relations and marketing services to national and international clients across various industries. Brecht has managed movie premieres and corporate events for Fortune 500 companies and completed media placement, rebranding initiatives, website design, and business development for Silicon Valley technology companies, Billboard-charting recording artists, civil and structural engineers, international choreographers, mobile app companies, nonprofits, fashion designers, and authors. Her writing has been published on CBS, Time Warner, LA Weekly, Built in Los Angeles, and the international publication, Top Agent Magazine.
