Stacy Jerger
Editing and Marketing in Oakland, CA
Hi! I’m Stacy, an editor with 7 years of experience, working in publishing, communications, and marketing. I look for ways to make content fresh and meaningful, and find rewarding collaborations in the process. I have a wide set of skills from my time in the nonprofit industry and as an independent editor.
As an editor, I've worked on many types of projects that share a need for storytelling at their core—traditionally published and self published books, concept outlines, query letters, web content, newsletters, and marketing collateral. For these projects, I collaborated with writers and senior editors, project coordinators, managing directors, and designers to create effective messaging and publications.
The nonprofit industry of art, science, and technology has deepened my experience in marketing through content development and strategy for fundraising and membership campaigns, idea testing, communication drips, and program support.
I'm also passionate about fiction storylines and have a talent for collaborating in the earliest stages of book development to meet the needs of a project and the target readership. As an independent editor, I worked one on one with writers to developmental edit full manuscripts. More recently as an outline editor, I worked on concept and outline projects with Relay Publishing.
When I received my certificate in the Professional Sequence in Editing from UC Berkeley, I gained a strong grasp of big-picture development down to copyediting, and how to make changes for most effective messaging while adhering to style guidelines.
