Tracy Staedter, founder of Fresh Pond Writers, is an editor and science journalist. Her nonfiction has appeared in Slate, Fast Company, Discovery News, Earth Magazine, Astronomy, Scientific American, and Technology Review. Her fiction has appeared in Luna Station Quarterly. She authored the children's science book, Rocks and Minerals, part of the Reader's Digest Pathfinders series. After completing one year of an MFA in Creative Writing at Goddard College, she chose an alternative path. That path lead her to several different workshops around the country, including Sackett Street Writers, Grub Street, Cambridge Center for Adult Education, Iowa Summer Writing Festival, Fine Arts Work Center, and Writing x Writers @ Tomales Bay, where she was fortunate to work with many wonderful writers such as Ron Carlson, Pam Houston, Adam Stumacher and Sandra Scofield.
