Traub Cam Machines and Parts in Chicago, Illinois
The Traub Single-spindle Automatic lathe is designed for the rapid production of all categories of small turned parts, such as bolts, nuts, screws, bushes, washers, pins and so on. The excellence of design and easy accessibility of the tooling and cams permit very easy and rapid setting-up of the Traub Automatic lathe. This factor makes even small production runs, as short as 100 pieces, a profitable proposition.
Traub models A15 and A25 are designed for the economical mass production of turned parts with max diameters of 25 mm. The field of their application comprises the manufacture of simple and complex turned components for the machine tool, automobile, electrical and precision engineering industries.
The machine base is designed to meet rigid requirements of continuous production of precision components.
The main spindle is running in adjustable grooved ball bearings, and is driven by a pole-changing motor through a countershaft. 12 different speeds are available. A second motor in the machine base is provided for the camshaft drive. This is connected through an easily interchangeable gear train to clutch-controlled worm drive which drives the camshafts. The feed gear transmission is available with an accelerator for the purpose of reducing idle time in the cycle.
The tailstock moves on hardened and super-finish ground guide bars. In standard design the quill is equipped with a draw bar collet attachment, for special needs, a Morse quill is available.
The adjustable stock stop is cam controlled and takes the form of a swing stop on the rear guide bar.
The slides move on long dovetail guideways with gib adjustment. The toolholders, which are mounted on the slides, are provided with rockers for fine adjustment of the tools, and in addition, all slide movement levers have micrometer depth adjustment and fine longitudinal adjustment.
Double and triple toolholders or circular form toolholders can be used on the front and rear cross slides in place of the standard rocker type toolholders.
Traub single spindle automatics can be equipped with semi-automatic or fully automatic magazine loading devices for the purpose of performing secondary operations on turned parts.
