Stand for Children

Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Stand for Children, an education nonprofit, works to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school prepared for, and with access to, a college education. Founded in 1996 by Jonah Edelman and Eliza Leighton, the organization works in eleven states to ensure every child can benefit from excellent public schools. To ensure that children get the education that they deserve, Stand for Children works to make grassroots changes, starting with parents, teachers, community leaders, and business owners.

Through Stand for Children’s Leadership Center, staff and volunteers educate everyday people how to raise their voice and advocate for effective local and state education policies in order to improve the odds for children. Additionally, the Stand University for Parents offers a 10-week, research-based family engagement program for elementary school parents. This program gives parents actionable steps to immediately get involved in their children’s academics and ensure their children are on track to college, through a strong, positive school-family partnership.
