Student and Dancer in England, United Kingdom
I am nearly a postgraduate literature student, still being chastised by her secondary-school physics teacher for spontaneously defecting to 'the dark side'. Favouring plain-spoken English, I believe big philosophical ideas in literature can be explained simply. Books can tell us about human beings as a species, our society and customs, rather than just"the writer made the rug blue to reflect depression".
Literature should be fundamentally enjoyable, and have the potential to be adapted into a screen-play, so I can 'just watch the film' when I've got a busy week.
