Founded in 1991, Stanley Laman Group offers a range of financial and investment services for businesses, individuals, charitable organizations, and independent financial service advisors. Its areas of focus include the design and management of unique investment portfolios and business transition strategies. Led by William Stanley and James Laman, the firm's operational structure includes two divisions, the first covering financial planning and the second dealing with investments.
The financial planning division of Stanley Laman provides assistance in estate planning, business transition, business capital needs, trust and estate plans, and insurance consulting and brokerage.
On the investment side, SLG offers consulting services in portfolio management and individual and institutional investment. It also maintains six separate investment portfolios, each offering unique strengths which appeal to different client segments.
As co-founder of SLG, Mr. Jim Laman earned a degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois-Chicago. In the early part of his career he worked as a Senior Auditor with Sears Roebuck in Chicago and attended law school at night. After earning his law degree, Mr. Laman served as a Tax Specialist with the firm of Laventhol & Horwath in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He later worked as an Estate and Business Analysis attorney with Fidelity Mutual, at which time he earned an LLM from Villanova School of Law.
William Stanley spent more than a decade with the wealth management firm Capital Analysts prior to co-founding SLG. During his tenure with Capital Analysts, Mr. Stanley earned a reputation as one of the leading associates in that firm's nationwide system. His clients included a number of the wealthiest private business owners in the United States.
