I can not sympathize with the word “foodie”. Our relationship to food is so multi-faceted and so complex that to try to define it with one word would do it injustice. At a basic level, food is survival and nourishment. On another level, food is hospitality. A gathering. Unity. Ritual. Food is tradition and one of the best ways to discover a new city is through its kitchens. Food is emotionally and mentally fulfilling. It is reminiscences… and so much more.
