Acting as CEO of Next Acropolis, where we're focused on helping students transition effectively into the labor market. Right now the way we move educated people into jobs is not effective/efficient, and it's time for change. This project sums my biography: 10 years as a college faculty member, software engineer, graduate work at Claremont Graduate University in Information Systems & Technology, grad work at Harvard GSD, undergrad at Colgate. The mountains on my co's website embody what we're trying to do, which is create a vantage point where a person can describe what they know, then see a picture of what is happening related to their deep interests. This also enables social networking related to employment, with folks outside your circle. I guess this reflects my interest in creating communities of people who share more than just their immediate proximity -- people who really are common to you, acting elsewhere. This is, in essence, your real peers, and it's now possible to build a social graph on people who really share things in common with you. Though this is the gist of my graduate research, it's also the subject of my freshman thesis in english, which dealt with the decline of community in american life. I think we can construct truly meaningful social bonds if we can successfully describe what is meaningful to us -- and this is best done through describing essays you chose to write in college, as well as life accomplishments. These things embody you, and when described -- enable a network of connections that is constantly changing. So I see my current job as my life's work, and I hope to get lots of help with it, so don't be afraid to contact me!
