Since 1994, when many Italian institutions set off Cultural Heritage cataloging and digitations projects, I have been involved in some of them. Start working on electronic catalogue using a SW based on retrieval system CDS/ISIS, gradually passed through SW based on relational DB, till HTML and XML schema. Thanks to my information technology aptitude together with a strong understanding of museum collection development and knowledge of data structure, I worked for the most important museum in Milan. Like other few bold pioneers I’m self-trained. I soon realize in fact that for satisfying both contents and forms I should have worked with IT experts, not to became myself an analyst but to avoid IT specialists to make unsafe decisions or to produce useless or unaccomplished resources.The skills and the knowledge I have acquired led me to run more complex projects held by important national institutions. Technical documents and handbook drawing up, activities and resources management, projects phases monitoring and performance appraisal, commitment with the institution digital and cultural strategies. Particularly relevant with regards of management skills has been the ICCD reengineering project of national cataloging web based system (SIGECWEB) and the ICCU project MuseiD-Italia contributing to Europeana.Also relevant was the seven years academic professional experiences at Catholic University of Milan.
