I have just recently graduated from the University of Central Lancashire on a Biomedical Science degree with honours with a 1st and I am now looking at moving on into the healthcare profession. I am currently however an office intern with the University of Central Lanncashire in Partnership and External Liason department in advancement.
Throughout my time at University I have been a course representative for the full three years, dealing with any issues the students on my course had. Similarly, I was also a member of the First aid Society where I was also the Secretary of the Comittee for two years running.
From October 2010 I became and Aim Higher Associate in which I worked with and mentored 14-15 year olds. This work lead me to become a Student Ambassador with UCLan. A widening participation project called Junior University was started by UCLan that year and I was given the oppotunity to work on this project and it was such a success that I am currently working on Year 2 of the project now. The project works with 13-15 year olds, helping them aspire and build confidence and giving them a better idea of what University really is. Throughout this project I have worked in a team with my other ambassadors to work with the kids in group activites, created and delivered workshops to the JU kids using presentations.
I have just completed a mentoring Scheme with the University of Central Lancashire where I helped mentors develop their mentoring skills and aided them to mentor young teenagers.
Last summer, I spent the whole month of July in Tanzania, Africa. Whilst in Tanzania I completed a 4 week hospital placement near Arusha, in the foothills of Mt. Killimanjaro. The time spent in the hosptial was eye opening and an incredible experience.
The transferable skills I have developed such as my critical and analytical skills make me a hard worker and reliable. I approach any task with enthusiasm; I am also highly motivated and dedicated, always committed to achieving the best results and opportunities out of any situation. Due to the nature of my work I excel at team work but can also take the role as a team leader when needs be by using my intiative.
