Crepes, paninis, Caprese salads. Four months studying abroad in Paderno del Grappa, Italy changed my life — and my taste buds. Growing up in a large Mexican-American family, tacos, enchiladas and fideo were staples in my house. I wasn't prepared for the simplicity of Italian cuisine or the finest quality ingredients that could be found in every local tibacchi. My time there broadened my palate and solidified my deep love affair with food. Now, as a senior at the University of Kansas studying journalism and English, I have decided to combine my passions for food and writing.
