Stefano is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and Founder and Chair of the Digital Orthopedic Conference (www.DOCSF.org) and the Regenerative Orthopedics Conference, (ROCSF). He has presented over 100 scientific papers at professional conferences both nationally and internationally and published extensively. He serves as the Chair of the Digital Health, Web and Social Media committee for the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Biomedical Committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is the Associate Editor of Arthroplasty Today and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Arthroplasty.

In the area of Digital Health, Stefano has presented and moderated at several technology conferences such as Exponential Medicine, Health 2.0 and talked about Technology at over a dozen Orthopedic events both nationally and internationally. Stefano also served on the Health Care Advisory Board for Nokia and as Medical Advisor to health care start-ups such as CaptureProof.com and informally to many others.

Current research interests include studying the impact of digital medicine on the delivery of healthcare, particularly in the area of sensors, change management strategies, and Kinematic Alignment for total knee surgery.
