I started work life in a small print shop, learning a lot about the trade from when customers entered the shop to delivering the finished product to them. It was the time before the internet, at the dawn of digital prepress, and it was exciting. Working in the dark room for an hour and the next hour using Pagemaker, Photoshop or FreeHand.

Soon after, formats like HTML and PDF showed up and when I learned what you could do to websites with a scripting language and a database, my path was pretty well laid out for me.
