Myers Briggs personality test: ENFJ, INFP, INTJ, ISTP, ENFP, ESTP, and ENTJ. The Bird Test: Owl, Eagle, and Dove. The Color Test: Blue, Green, Red, and Gold. Every personality and leadership style test I take, the results are all the same.
I'm never one definitive “type”. Each of these tests aim to describe your overall personality, but my results are always too equally divided to give a consistent result. In middle school, I would get frustrated with these tests because I wanted my results to be like my friends’ and be 98 percent one thing or another, but I was always in the middle. I would “cheat” and answer the questions in order to get the “type” I wanted and, for a brief moment, I would be content. The idea of not having a singular “type” scared me, but as I matured and developed, I began to realize and appreciate what my unique results actually meant.
I learned that being a little bit of everything enables me to be a better all-round person and more open-minded. My many different “labels” allow me to see the different perspectives of my peers and can help grow deeper connections. Knowing what I do now, It makes sense that I have have so many hobbies; from astrophotography, running, kite flying, playing with my dog, going to the beach with friends, and many more. Each of these activities appeals to a different side of me and while my tests’ non-definitive answers have haunted me most of my life, I now realize how fortunate I am to be a uniquely jumbled mess of traits, letters, colors, and birds.
