Im a wife, a mother, a nurse, a singer, a wannabe hippie and activist. But, with also wanting to get into better shape and reach my body's potential, I lack sucess in all areas. But, I have to admit, I have the wife and mom thing down pretty good.
With my husband and daughter by my side, we cheer each other on daily, and create a loyalty that rivals the 3 muskateers.
I work full time at an internal medicine office. A very busy, crazy, office. I am the lead singer of an "Americana Roots Rock" band. We cover The Band, Janis Joplin, Greatful Dead, Jimmi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Emmy Lou Harris and some originals too. I love the chance to leave work and 'responsibility' behind a couple time a month to get up on stage and let it be just me and the music...and my friends and family dancing around in front, smiling up us as we create the sounds.
My fitness level is the inner battle that has grown stronger over the past 5-10 years. As I age, as with all women, I realize it's a battle not easily won. I was always a very long, lanky, uncooridinated girl. Too tall, and too skinny. It wasn't until I was 17 years old, and reached 5 feet 11.5 inches that I gained weight. 30 pounds in 10 months! I had eaten everything I possibly could to try and put meat on my unrully limbs, then I suddenly went from a size 6 to a size 13! I joined a gym and used the knowledge I had from years of physical therapy to treat my scoliosis (diagnosed at age 11) to get into shape... a healthy shape.
Over the years I have maintained an average weight of 140, however, it has been a range of a healthy, muscular weight vs. a skinny, flabby weight. I'm notorious for working out for 6 months and getting into shape then I stop. I know this is the viscious cycle many men and women get into, so I guess now I'm here to find and watch others with this same habit to motivate me, and help motivate them, to snap out of the fight with fitness and get back into, and stay in, a partnership with fitness.
