Stephanie Cowley
My name is Stephanie Cowley, I am a Junior at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management at the Isenberg School of Management. I am focusing on Event Management, in hopes of full filling my dreams of becoming an Event Manager on a corporate level.
Majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management gives me the ability to join together two of my passions; event planning and traveling. This semester I gained real world experience of event management through my internship for Global Spectrum at the Mullins Center on the UMass Campus. I have also interned for two summers in the procurement department at Alcatel-Lucent. There I was able to work on contract management, my organizational skill, time management, and Microsoft Office. I will take the knowledge I have learned from my internships and Isenberg classes to Florence, when I travel abroad for my Spring 2014 semester.
Outside of class, I am actively involved in my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. I have taken on many leadership rolls such as leading ritual as Marshal, and being a member of the Standards and Slating Committees. This past September I was elected to attend Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Leadership Academy in Columbus Ohio, where I learned the ins and outs of leading others in out and of the office. My experiences in work, school, and travel are all aspects of my life that I have greatly enjoyed and will continue to apply to my everyday life through my hard work and dedication.
