Stephanie Greig

Brooklyn, NY

The daughter of Las Vegas bassist Kenny Greig, Stephanie has performed in jazz groups in the US, Spain, Japan and Curacao with her husband, pianist Michael Kanan, and has played in a variety of settings all over the New York area with Christiana Drapkin, Abigail Lumsden, Ron Mesa, and many others. She is the current string bass principal of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra.

Stephanie teaches guitar at her Brooklyn rehearsal studio and by Skype. She has been a student of the legendary jazz player Gene Bertoncini since 2010, and adapts Gene's intuitive yet rigorous teaching style for beginning students and intermediate players.

Throughout her adult life, Stephanie has also been a working graphic artist, producing websites, training curricula, book illustrations, promotional materials, comic books, and CD covers. She has recently joined the fast-growing club of WordPress enthusiasts.
