I left my homeland of New Zealand at age 17 to take up a scholarship to Li Po Chun United World College in Hong Kong, then followed Kofi Annan's footsteps to Macalester College in the American Midwest. At Macalester I served on the inaugural steering committee for the Institute for Global Citizenship, fought to retain need-blind admissions and helped establish the Twin Cities Experimental College.
Later, I earned an MEd in Curriculum at Miami University (Ohio) with a focus on adult and nontraditional education. While there, I co-created, supported and documented the groundbreaking classroom-community learning initiatives of the Wilks Leadership Institute. I also served as National Campus Compact as the Student Engagement Coordinator, coordinating state student programs and awards and shaping the research agenda for the 20th anniversary publication. I am a founding board member of the IMPACT conference.
I was lured into the for-profit world by the opportunity to apply my educational knowledge at Thrive, a groundbreaking personal finance advice site, and Churnless, a behavior-change incubator I developed expertise in software product design and execution, and provided strategy advice to a range of for-profit and nonprofit organizations. At H&C I specialize in project management, organizational strategy and product development. I'm also the cofounder of Learnkitchen, a company that helps individuals and organizations create fun
