Hi, there! Thanks for taking some time to read my story! As you can see, my name is Stephanie. I'm the oldest of three sisters. I have been happily married for 11 years, and I have three little boys. My 27-year-old sister, Jessica, recently died from an accidental overdose. My family watched her suffer from alcohol and drug addiction for a long time, and her death has changed and effected every part of all of our lives. My first impulse when faced with something as confusing as death from addiction is to research the heck out of it and try to find some kind of understanding. My next impulse is to write about it. Out of these natural tendencies of mine has been born a blog. I am thankful for all the people who stop by to read what I have to say about my sister and what life is like now as I am trying to come to terms with her life and death. I hope that by speaking openly and honestly about this, I can do my part to combat the stigma that leaves so many of us who love addicts feeling isolated and ashamed. Thank you for reading!
