Dr. Stephanie Buehler
Newport Beach, CA
Hello! Curious about me? My passion is helping people discover intimacy, in and out of the bedroom. My journey as a psychologist began long ago when I developed a natural interest in what makes people think, say, and do the things they do. Although I majored in English at UCLA and hold a Master of Professional Writing degree from USC, my background in liberal arts has helped me understand the human mind and spirit.
I came to be a sex therapist in a round about way. I worked with people with chronic illness and cancer, which lead to a partnership with an endocrinologist--a doctor who specializes in hormones. She encouraged me to pursue specialization in sex therapy. Sounded like a great idea! As it turned out, it was a wonderful idea. I love helping my clients, and I feel most rewarded when someone has an insight or changes a behavior that unlocks a new door into understanding their sexuality.
I have a private practice in Newport Beach, California at The Buehler Institute. In 2012 I wrote my third book concerning sex entitled What Every Mental Health Professional Needs to Know about Sex, which will be published by Springer. I enjoy instructing and supervising other therapists who want to help their clients with sexual concerns. I just started my continuing education venture, www.LearnSexTherapy.com.
