In September 2013, three months before turning 50, having spent over 30 years of my life in big cities, I left Paris and moved to a small town of 8,000 souls in the Drôme Valley. I had only visited there one weekend. It was a gut feeling, a love-at first-sight kind of decision. It just felt right. A year later, the love continues to grow. Every day, I meet new friends, learn new ways of being myself, new ways of thinking. I learn to let go, I learn to be open, more trusting, less judgmental. I once thought of myself as the quintessential city girl: needing the outdoors cafés, the movie theaters, the noise and the excitement of the big city to feel happy. Today, I know I really don't.
