Hi, I’m Stephanie! My pronouns are she/her/hers.
I’m a graduate student in chemistry at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I'm currently working in Dr. Timothy Hanusa's lab exploring alternative menthods to form new catalysts for industrial processes. I am specifically researching in the field of Mechanochemistry, where we use mechanical energy to induce chemical reactions in the solid state. Our goal is to have environmentally friendly menthods implemented at the large scale to reduce energy consumption and chemical waste.
Aside from my scientific training, I am passionate about science communication and creating content that advocates for diversity and representation in STEM. In Janurary 2018, I founded Ph.uture D.octors. My aim is to expose to high school students to careers in STEM through diverse scientists at the forefront of STEM research. My hope to help support students that lack mentorship in high school and guide students to a career path that peaks their interest.
When I'm not busy research or scripting my next video, I'm either binge watching shows on Netflix or rock climbing with my best friends.
Keep up to date with the latest Pheatured Scientist and YouTube video on my website!
