Stephanie will be graduating this year with a Bachelors Degree in Interior Design from the CIDA accredited program at BCIT. Her goal is to design educational and health care spaces which can connect the community through sustainable practices.
Throughout her education, Stephanie developed an interest in different aspects of commercial design however the most rewarding was her healthcare and educational projects. This helped inspire her Capstone Project: An Environmental Children's Centre named the ECC, featuring a daycare for children 3-5 and studio spaces for children between the ages 5-13. The purpose of this centre is to create a space where children can come together and learn skills through nature while making connection with other children.
Over the course of her education, Stephanie has developed an aspiration to achieve unique design. Design should not only visually appealing but also considers the functionality of the space. She believes in creating a world which is more connected, livable, and incorporating green design to enhance the way people live is essential. This has led her to pursue LEED and Living Building Challenge accreditation after graduation and inspired her to incorporate into her Capstone project.
Her approach to problem-solving is influenced by her background in customer service, balancing both analytical and creative thinking. Through this strategy, it allows her to multitask and build strong connections with her peers.
When she is not designing, Stephanie enjoys volunteering for Scouts Canada, working with youth between the ages of five and seventeen. Her passions are landscape photography, camping, and exploring new cities and cultures.
