I am the Special Education Resource Teacher for intermediate grades at Gilbert Elementary in Lexington District One. I work with students who have learning, social and/or behavioral challenges. I provide small group instruction with researched based strategies in reading, writing and math.
I graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Florida State University. I worked for nine years as a Social Worker specializing in early intervention programs (birth to age 3). I graduated in 2009 from Western Kentucky University (WKU) with my Master of Arts Degree in Special Education with a focus in Learning and Behavioral Disorders. I am currently pursing a second Master of Arts Degree at WKU in Special Education with a focus on Moderate to Severe Disabilities. I am certified in Learning and Emotional Disabilities K-12. I have been teaching since 2007.
