Stephanie Nixon
Austin, Texas
I live in Austin with my husband, John, and two pups, Porter (pictured at Zilker Park) and Paisley. As true Austinites, we chase down delicious tacos, ride our bikes to beer tastings, and wager dyeing our dogs burnt orange on the outcome of the Longhorns, so please seek me out for any advice about the city.
In contrast to my local expertise, I act globally in my employment with Texas Instruments. During my operations role, I earned the reputation of go-to resource for a large foundry in Taiwan, culminating in a trip to Taipei to establish production priorities by day and explore the legendary markets by night. Subsequently, adaptability over the course of my corporate accounting role led me to own processes supporting nearly every footnote in our quarterly filings.
Texas Instruments is one of the largest semiconductor companies in the world. Yes, we do more than calculators! Some of my favorite product applications include high-resolution haptic feedback—feeling the strum of a guitar on your touchscreen—and microenergy harvesting—translating environmental vibrations into a battery-free world.
As may be evident, I have an interest in technology; however, this interest is rooted in my passion for innovation: bringing creativity to reality. During undergrad this passion surfaced in a successful case competition in which our team developed a device to enhance the way visually impaired persons perceive their surroundings. In my spare time I invent recipes and research the feasibility of items in my running idea book.
I look forward to exploring ideas and gaining strategic insight with the promising peers of the McCombs class of 2016.
