Stephanie Samudro
My name is Stephanie Samudro, and I am 2nd year varsity student-athlete at The Ohio State University. My major is hospitality management and I plan to be an event planner after i graduate. My main career ambition is to work and have my own wedding planning business one day.
Out of the top 5 strengths from my StrengthsQuest, I choose "communications" that stands out to me most. Communications is a very important aspect in any working field, but with me being a hospitality management major, communications is highly expected. Speaking to customers and making sure they are being served well is key and I believe that my communications skills are pretty good. Communications means being able to communicate with everyone around you whether to means telling someone to improve on something or as a compliment. I identify with this strength the most because I have a passion for communicating with others and greeting people that I do or do not know. It impacts my academic, personal, and social life in a good way because if I have a question, I am not afraid to ask. I wouldn't consider myself as an outspoken person, but I consider myself someone who can communicate very well.
For the dream job activity we did in class, we were to go on an online website and find a description of our dream job and e-mail it to our teacher. I chose to look up the description of an event planner and I have found this to be quite helpful. it gave me a better description of what it takes to be a wedding planner, and what the job entails. Doing this assignment will help me in the future to prepare me better because now that I know what the job description is, I am aware of what I should be doing in order to prepare for what I want to do in the future.
"My Ohio State Tradition" was a writing assignment that we were assigned to do. We had to give a description of a tradition we liked on campus. I put down singing "Carmen" after every swim meet with my teammates as my favorite tradition. The lesson to this is that I learned that even though I am not close with all 33 of my teammates, we all come together and support each other like a family when it comes to it. By singing Carmen and linking arms together at the end of every meet shows how much my teammates and I care for each other and makes me appreciate the family I have away from home. The lesson is, the people I make friends with now are the people that will be in my lives for forever.
