This year in I.B. Prep and S.T.E.M. class has brought me projects like baseball bungee, pasta bridge, and learning the importance of the areas of interaction.
Baseball bungee was a project using and learning slope. We tied a bunch of rubber bands together and attached them to a baseball. Then Mr. Diaz stood on a ladder and dropped the baseball. We used the distance of the bounce of the ball and calculated our slope line. At first, I didn't know too much about slope, but after baseball bungee, I understood the concept better.
The next project we had was called Pasta Bridge. A group of six people were to build a strong bridge out of pasta and see how strong it really was. Our bridge managed to stay strong for a short amount of time. We hadn't angled the pasta the correct way, and when Mr.Diaz put the individual dice cubes on our bridge, it started to break down and eventually broke. We got last place for strongest bridge, but I learned the certain angles objects must go to withstand certain conditions.
Lastly, I have learned a great amount of information on how important the areas of interaction are. Each of the 5 areas of interaction include responsibility of taking care of yourself and caring for others. Each one of them have taught me the importance of myself, the world, and others. I'm glad that I know understand the true meaning of the areas of interaction.
All in all, this year has been interesting, scientific, and challenging. But with a little effort, time, learning, and understanding, this year has turned out the best it can be.
