In 2011, Dr. Gomes is launching a new sustainable enterprise in South Dakota. Currently Steve has just completed a 3-year stint as Chief Operations Officer of Creative Motion Control, Inc. in Bellevue, WA. Prior to that he was CEO of AmTech, Inc. in Silicon Valley specializing in public-private technology commericialization. He is president of his own 25-year old consulting firm, Gomes and Company (www.gomesandcompany.com). Steve helps conceptualize, create and implement sustainable businesses, starts socially responsible enterprises, launches non-profits, teaches international MBA courses in business strategy and strategic alliances at Maastricht School of Management in Holland and has worked in over 85 countries to date starting with service in the U.S. Peace Corps in Brazil. He has extensive experience in the Middle East, China, Europe and Russia. He is an expert in large scale infrastructure project planning (20 years with Bechtel and its competitor). and has helped complete significant funding for several for-profit and non-profit enterprises. He is vitally interested in exploring new forms of education substantially different from current failed models based on outmoded industrial one-size-fits-all, creativity- stifling conformity approaches. He has worked extensively with the Oglala Sioux Tribe of Pine Ridge, SD and continues to be involved in development programs there. He is a big science fiction fan and a long-time pilot, having owned three airplanes so far to date.
