Stephen Sheehan

Welcome.

My name is Stephen Sheehan and I predominately use live art as a method to explore and question life. My work is conceptual based stemming from my interest in philosophical, psychological, religious and social topics.

The beautiful, fragile and transient nature of life fascinates me. I am also fascinated by the relentless repetition of life and death. I employ repetition within my work as a direct link to that process.

My work is usually produced in open spaces that are accessible to the passing public. This gives my work a sense of fragility and vulnerability because of the chance of it being disturbed by curiosity.

My work is usually documented by the beautiful and talented, Hannah Stein. I like my work being documented. It’s a good way of remembering what I did the day before.

This may sound very egotistical but, long after I have died, I like the thought that the photographs and films of my work, somehow keeps me and my ideas alive.

I also like the idea that the documentation is a still image taken from inside the mind of Hannah Stein. You are looking at her view of it all. It allows us both to live.
