Born 1961 in Washington, D.C. Moved to Moscow, USSR, same year, was there for two years. Then back home to Chevy Chase, Md. Also Calcutta, India, for a year (1968-69) and Warsaw, Poland (1973-78).
Went to boarding school in Connecticut, at Indian Mountain School and Westminster School, before attending and graduating from Brown University, 1984 (A.B., Russian Studies). I was sports editor and executive editor of the Brown Daily Herald.
Worked at newspapers in Maryland and Pennsylvania as a reporter and copy editor before making the transition to trade newsletters, where I covered the agriculture industry and environmental issues, focusing on EPA and Congress.
I am the father to two children who are decent and kind human beings.
